Malindo Air’s launch of flights between Brisbane and Kuala Lumpur via Denpasar (Bali) has finally moved from on-again off-again rumour into the realm of bookable reality.
The airline – whose name is a portmanteau of Malaysia and Indonesia – is pitching daily flights from March 31, 2017 on board a Boeing 737-800 fitted with business class and inflight WiFi.
Malindo Air flight OD158 departs Brisbane at 7.15am to reach Denpasar at 11.45am; one hour later it’s onwards to Kuala Lumpur for a 3.45pm touchdown. On the way back, OD157 is wheels-up from Kuala Lumpur at 6.05pm, arriving into Denpasar at 9.10pm and finally Brisbane at 5.40am the next day.
Business class travellers can take their pick from 12 leather reclining seats in a 2-2 configuration across three rows with AC and USB power ports, an 11.1-inch touchscreen inflight entertainment system, complimentary food and beverage plus one hour of inflight Internet access. Additional usage will cost you, however: and at US$10 per hour or US$16 for the rest of the flight, you might be happy just to relax and enjoy the short trip.
Passengers at the pointy end also enjoy access to the Malindo Executive Lounge in Kuala Lumpur before their flight home, as do Malindo Miles Platinum members and Malindo Corporate Gold customers stuck in economy.
