Dear Guests,
Effective 16 April 2014, Malaysia Airlines passengers travelling from London will require to use a new technology called ‘Positive Boarding’ introduced by Heathrow Airport.
‘Positive Boarding’ is designed to direct passengers to the correct boarding gate and to manage their time better so that passengers arrive at the boarding gate on time and reduce delays in flight departure.
After check-in and upon entering security, passengers are required to scan the barcode on their boarding pass at an automatic gate. The barcode information will verify flight details and the designated boarding gate. This information will be displayed on the screen so passengers will know if they are in the right terminal, or otherwise.
The system also allows the airline to know if passengers landside or airside, ie already in the Departure area, as well as passengers who are unlikely to make their flights given the time it takes to go through the stringent airport processes of Security and boarding.
With the implementation of ‘Positive Boarding’, passengers are required to:
• Check-in for their flight no later than 45 minutes before departure time
• Clear Security check point (located after the automatic gate) at least 35 minutes before departure time
• Be at the boarding gate at least 25 minutes before flight
If the system does not allow passenger to pass the automatic gate, passengers will have to return to the Malaysia Airlines check-in counter to seek assistance.
Kindly be advised on this new regulation and to have enough time to enter departures at London Heathrow Airport.
Thank you.
